Job Description The Superintendent leads the Bureau of Building and Street Repair (BBSR), providing strategic and operational oversight. Responsibilities include: Managing daily bureau operations and personnel Developing policies and procedures to improve efficiency Overseeing maintenance and repair of city buildings and streets Managing emergency responses and specialized projects Maintaining stakeholder relations and ensuring compliance with standards Additional functions include supervising personnel procedures, responding to public inquiries, preparing operational reports, and participating in emergency response efforts. Qualifications Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: At least five (5) years of managerial experience overseeing maintenance, repair, or construction operations, including supervising first-line managers and managing budgets. Licenses/Certifications: Valid California Class C driver’s license. Additional qualifying experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis up to four years. Desirable Qualifications Experience reporting to a superintendent, managing budgets, working with CMMS systems, and excellent communication skills are preferred.
