Role Summary

Our vehicle system electronics are the lifeline for power distribution and control functions on our vehicle. Innovation around our Vehicle System Electronics is key to increasing power efficiency and features while reducing mass and cost. Your electronics are the lifeblood of the vehicle. Rivian is continuing to vertically integrate major vehicle systems and components and developing vehicles that support a wide range of outdoor as well as commercial needs.


Responsibilities

  • Own the design and development of Rivian’s next generation L2 charger communication module
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose field issues of deployed Rivian electronics control units
  • Design, prototype, and test all electrical circuits within your module
  • Align with SW engineers on product architecture
  • Drive cross functional meetings and make product defining decisions
  • Collaborate with RF engineers to optimize wireless interfaces
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineers for module packaging, manufacturing, and thermal performance
  • Define hardware and software requirements to ensure your design complies with the full mission profile
  • Collaborate with product launch teams to ensure your product can meet ramp requirements
  • Support SW engineering root cause analyses
  • Define troubleshooting processes and train junior engineers and/or technicians on how to implement them

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related fields) with 12+ years of experience or Master’s degree with 8+ years experience
  • Strong EE fundamentals including power, high speed, computer architecture, analog, and mixed signal design
  • Experience in design and validation of high speed signaling
  • Proficiency in schematic capture and design layout tools (Altium)
  • Deep understanding of product development and managing technical risk
  • Excellent communication skills to both technical and non-technical audiences 
  • Lab proficiency – hands-on knowledge of equipment and best practices
  • Familiarity with RTOS and Linux systems
  • An ability to zoom out on technical problems and create plans to solve them

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $213,000 - $266,300 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
